Could Remains Found 80 Years Ago Belong to Amelia Earhart?

Bones discovered on a South Pacific island decades ago may be those of Amelia Earhart, according to a recent forensic study conducted by the University of Tennessee. In a statement released by the university, officials said the analysis showed that the remains "have more similarity to Earhart than to 99 percent of individuals in a large reference sample."
