Finding Love When You Have a Rare Disorder That Turns Your Body to Bone

Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressive, also known as FOP, is a rare disease that turns muscle tissue and connective tissue into bone. Only 800 people worldwide have the disorder. In 2016, Inside Edition met with two women from different parts of the country who found love. We asked how they are living their lives with the help of their husbands while honoring their vows of “in sickness and in health.” The women also explained the homemade devices which allow them to do everyday activities.
