In March 1997, Brooklyn rapper Christopher Wallace, aka the Notorious B.I.G., was gunned down in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles. In March 1964, 28-year-old Kitty Genovese was raped and murdered in her Queens, New York, neighborhood by Winston Moseley. The 911 system was created in the wake of her death. The untimely death of John F. Kennedy Jr., considered by many to be a prince of Manhattan, in a plane crash in 1999, left the nation stunned and many asking what happened.
