You may not realize it, but you already have items around your house that can help you get through the “bomb cyclone.” Spray cooking spray all over your shovel before you put it in the snow to keep the snow from sticking to it. Got an icy spot? You can make your own ice melt that works like salt. Mix a teaspoon of dish soap and a tablespoon of rubbing alcohol in a large bucket with hot water and pour it on an icy surface to melt a frozen layer.
