50 Years Later, Looking Back at Robert F. Kennedy's Funeral

The New York City funeral of Robert F. Kennedy was a somber coda to a once-promising life and career. The presumptive Democratic nominee for president was killed in Los Angeles by Sirhan Sirhan, a 24-year-old from Palestine, in June 1968. After the funeral at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, a train carried RFK’s body to Washington D.C., where he was buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
