Man Reclaims His Life After Serving 13 Years for a Crime He Didn’t Commit

Lamar Johnson was just 20 years old when he was arrested and charged with a murder he had nothing to do with. In 2005, he was sentenced to life in prison, but five years into his sentence, he found a glimmer of hope through the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project (MAIP), whose lawyers worked on his case for years. Finally, in September 2017, Lamar was exonerated and freed from prison. Now, reunited with his family after 13 years behind bars, he must work to piece his life back together.
