Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the duke and duchess of Sussex, shocked the world and the rest of the royal family when they announced their decision to "step back as 'senior' members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent." The couple announced their decision on Instagram, and Buckingham Palace responded that "these are complicated issues that will take time to work through." But Meghan and Harry aren't the first royals to step back from their duties.
