Passenger Lands Plane After Pilot Suffers Medical Emergency

After a 61-year-old pilot passed out at the controls, a passenger landed the plane. The pilot was Duke University Professor Joseph Izatt who was a pioneer in Duke’s biomedical engineering department. He apparently suffered a fatal massive heart attack while flying the plane. Thankfully, the flight instructor took over the controls and landed the plane safely in North Carolina.
