Tom Cruise Returns His Golden Globes in Protest of Award Show’s Organizing Body

May 10, 2021

Tom Cruise is returning his three Golden Globe statues. The awards, for his roles in “Jerry Maguire,” “Magnolia” and “Born on the Fourth of July,” will be given back as Cruise joins others protesting the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the Globes' organizing body that has long been called out for what many have called racist and sexist practices. NBC announced they are canceling next year’s broadcast, and said they hope to return in 2023, pending the HFPA’s “meaningful reform.”
