'I Did What's Right:' Zayn Malik Doubles Down on Decision to Leave One Direction

One Direction band member Zayn Malik is speaking out for the first time since announcing his departure from the boyband.

He told The Sun, “It's, um, crazy and wild, and a bit mad. But, at the same time I’ve never felt more in control. I feel like I’m doing what's right, right by myself, and right by the boys. So, I feel good.”

Earlier this week he announced that he was walking away from the biggest boyband in the world on the group's Facebook page.

In the statement on Facebook, he wrote: "I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight."

The decision appeared to cause grief among fans of One Direction. The internet was flooded with videos of tearful teens crying their eyes out.

One super fan in New York desperately wants the boyband to stay together, so she started a campaign to actually buy the group!  She created a Go Fund Me page "Buy One Direction" and she's hoping to raise $87.8 million!

So, how much has she raised so far? As of now $1,628. Good luck.

Actor Billy Zane, best known for his role in Titanic, thinks all those Zayn Malik tweets are about him.

In the video posted on Funny or Die, the actor tried to clear up the misspelling. He said, “I had no idea all of my fans were hysterical 14-year-old girls. I don't want to be nitpickey but for the sake of record, it's Z-A-N-E not Z-A-Y-N.”
