Trevor Noah To Replace Jon Stewart on 'The Daily Show'

"You don't believe it for the first few hours."

The Daily Show officially has a new host. Jon Stewart's replacement will be Trevor Noah, a 31-year-old comedian from South Africa.

The New York Times announced Monday that the comedian will be taking over for Jon Stewart, and Comedy Central confirmed the news. Noah has appeared on The Daily Show as a contributor only three times in the past four months, and just got a huge promotion.

Regis hasn't seen Kelly Ripa since their final show.

The comedian was on a comedy tour in Dubai when he got the news. He told the Times, "You don't believe it for the first few hours. You need a stiff drink, and then unfortunately you're in a place where you can't really get alcohol."

Comedy Central made the announcement less than two months after Stewart announced he will be leaving the show to end his widely successful 16-year run as host of the polical satire hit. Stewart said in a statment, "I'm thrilled for the show and for Trevor. He's a tremendous comic talent that we've loved working with."

Bringing in a TV newcomer with a biracial, international perspective could put a whole new spin on the Comedy Central franchise. In an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman, he joked about being introduced as a comedian from Africa. "They make it sound like a guy in leopard skin's going to come running on the stage."

With over 17 million views on YouTube and over two million Twitter followers, Trevor Noah is now set to take on late night comedy.
