Celebs Go Head-to-Head in 'Lip Sync Battle'

Jimmy Fallon's comedy bit is now a TV show.

Celebrities go head to head to see who is better at lip syncing.

The premiere of Lip Sync Battle is tonight on Spike TV and if the premise for the show looks familiar, there is a reason for it.

Lip sync battle's been a gigantic success as a comedy segment on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Will Farrell lip syncing to Beyoncé was seen by 35 million people.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt's routine got 41 million views.

But Emma Stone beats them all with nearly 48 million views.

Now, the segment's become a half-hour TV show in its own right.

The idea for the initial sketch on Fallon came from The Office's John Krasinski and British comedian Stephen Merchant.

When the performances started going viral, Krasinski and Merchant along with Fallon pitched the show idea to NBC but the network said no. But Spike TV said yes right away.

Lip Sync Battle is hosted by LL Cool J and supermodel Chrissy Teigen.

The first episode pits The Rock against Fallon.
