Lindsay Lohan Sent Back to Jail!

Lindsay Lohan was led away from the courtroom in handcuffs after a judge ruled she would return to jail for failing a drug test. INSIDE EDITION has the details.

The judge has thrown the book at Lindsay Lohan.

The actress is back in jail after an appearance before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elden Fox.

Via Twitter, Lohan admitted to failing a drug test, and Judge Fox revoked her probation. She must now remain in jail for almost a month until another hearing scheduled for October 22nd.

Lohan was taken away in handcuffs following the shocking decision.

Lohan and her attorney Shawn Chapman Holley were caught completely off-guard. Prior to the hearing, Lohan and her mother Dina were talking, and smiling, and Lohan even gave her mother a thumbs up before the judge took the bench.

But once he did, everything changed. He ordered Lohan taken into custody with no bail, and she will remain behind bars at the Lynwood Correctional Facility until her hearing on October 22.

Her father, Michael Lohan, says he is outraged by the judge's decision.

"She should have never, ever, ever, had to face jail time," he told reporters.

Lohan arrived about ten minutes before the hearing. She confidently walked up the courthouse steps in Beverly Hills accompanied by her mother Dina and surrounded by a swarm of photographers.

Last weekend Lohan admitted she failed a drug test while on probation, tweeting: "Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test..."

Legal experts were also surprised by the judge's no-nonsense ruling.

"He was clear, he was concise, he was direct, harsh, and he was not messing around," says Robin Sax, a former prosecutor.

"She didn't even have time to react, her lawyer was caught off-guard, I think everyone on her legal team was blindsided," says CBS Legal Analyst Trent Copeland.

This will be Lohan's longest stint in jail. Her two previous visits were 84 minutes in 2007 and 13 days in July 2010.
