Game of Thrones Creators Apologize For Using Fake President Bush Head

HBO's Game of Thrones is well known for its shocking scenes. But one scene may be the most disturbing of all - one of decapitated heads placed on stakes. One of the fake severed heads resembles former President George W. Bush.

The outrageous moment went unnoticed when it was first broadcast last year - but the behind-the-scenes commentary, on the just-released season 1 DVD, makes it clear that it is Bush's head.

On the commentary track by creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, they said, "It's not a choice; it's not a political statement. We just had to use whatever head we had around."

The head-turning revelation is embarrassing HBO on the very day the network premieres a documentary on Bush's father, George Herbert Walker Bush, called 41.

Leslie Bruce of The Hollywood Reporter said, "It has people raising questions, whether or not this was a political statement. And, ultimatly producers are saying 'It is not.' But, it is embarassing nonetheless."

HBO is apologizing, calling the scene "unacceptable, disrespectful." They then said, "We are very sorry this happened and will have it removed from any future DVD."

The show's creators, Benioff and Weiss are also apologizing and said, "We meant no disrespect to the former president and apologize if anything we said or did suggested otherwise."
