Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj Diva Smackdown

The new season hasn't even premiered yet and things are already on fire on the set of American Idol as Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj get into it with each other. INSIDE EDITION has the scoop.

There was foul-mouthed fury on the set of American Idol as new judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey went at each other during auditions.

Minaj said, "Get this ____ in self-control. Get in control! Get in control!"

Judge Randy Jackson was sitting on the far right giving the time-out sign, trying to calm the duelling divas down in the video leaked to TMZ. Keith Urban was sitting between the two women looking very uncomfortable.

Nicki Minaj shouted, "Off with her head! Off with her head," and reportedly said, "If I had a gun, I would shoot her."

The feud escalated further Wednesday, with Carey reportedly confronting Minaj, demanding to know if she had uttered a death threat. Minaj denied it.

Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe is backing Minaj up, accusing Carey's handlers of "stirring the pot" by giving her false information.

Warfare erupted after Carey reportedly called Minaj the "B" word and Minaj threatened, "I'm going to knock you out."

Nicki Minaj could be heard shouting, "I told them I'm not [blanking] putting up with her [blanking] highness over there."

Huffington Post Executive Arts and Entertainment Editor Michael Hogan told INSIDE EDITION, "Nicki Minaj comes out of the hip-hop world, and this is a culture that is not very tolerant of disrepect. And when you get disrespected, you don't swallow it, You don't say, 'Oh, that's Mariah Carey, she's famous.' You attack back."

The screaming match brought auditions in Charlotte, North Carolina to a screeching halt, but they resumed today.

The New York Daily News says the two divas are "at war."

Ryan Seacrest described the verbal slugfest on his radio show Wednesday.

"It was intense, I'll be honest with you. It was towards the end of the day. Producers came in and said, 'Look, we're going to call it a wrap for the day,' " said Seacrest.

Sharon Osbourne came to Carey's defense on The Talk, saying, "Nicki is out of her league. She doesn't realize who she's talking to."

The feud has been simmering since the new judges panel got together in the Time Warner Center in New York two weeks ago. The divas made light of it at their first joint press conference where Nicki Minaj said, "We're getting along fine, darling."

At the press conference, Mariah Carey said, "How are we going to feud in two days? A feud takes a little longer."

When Carey was asked about tension behind the scenes, she said, "What tension?"

Now, the anger is out in the open for all to see.
