Quvenzhané Wallis Wins Acting Awards and Hearts

Airdate: 01/11/2013

On the very day she made history by becoming the youngest person ever nominated for a Best Actress Oscar®, Quvenzhané Wallis accomplished another first by winning Best Young Actor or Actress at the Critic's Choice Awards.

The nine-year-old strutted onstage in a sparkly lilac dress to accept her Critic's Choice Award and read her acceptance speech off her pink iPhone.

"I would also like to thank the Film Critic's for this award," said Wallis.

It's the first time anyone ever saw such a thing, and get this--just hours earlier, Wallis told INSIDE EDITION she'd been having a problem with her iPhone.

"I have an iPhone, but it has no service," said Wallis.

Well, problem solved just in time to accept the award.

"Lastly, to my family, friends and fans-good night!"

Everyone is knocked out by this tiny talent, who hails from this modest home 50 miles from New Orleans. These days, she's rubbing elbows with the likes of legendary director Steven Spielberg, who met her on the red carpet.

One of the little girl's biggest fans is the man who plays her dad in Beasts Of The Southern Wild, Dwight Henry, who, like Quvenzhané Wallis, had zero acting experience when he was cast for the part. He owns a bakery in New Orleans.

"I look at her like she's my own daughter," said Henry. "She's so talented!"
