Bette Midler Grants a Dying Woman's Wish

It was a dying wish come true for a terminally ill woman who wanted Bette Midler to sing her favorite song to her. INSIDE EDITION has the heartwarming story.

A 28-year-old woman was terminally ill and she had just one dying wish—to have Bette Midler sing to her.

Anna Greenberg had a rare form of cancer that had spread to her lungs and brain. She was slipping away.

Last December, she got to meet her idol Bette Midler in person at the premiere of the movie Parental Guidance. But, she had one more wish before the end came.

It happened last month as Anna lay in her hospital bed in Tucson, Arizona.

Bette sang "Wind Beneath My Wings," her signature song from Beaches and made a dying woman's dream come true.

"It was extremely emotional. There was not a single dry eye in the room or on the phone," Greenberg's brother added.

At the end of the song, it was Bette who was thanking Anna.

"When I look up and see a bird I'm going to be seeing you," Bette said. "I love you."

Three days after the phone call, Anna passed away. Now, her family has released the video they shot as a tribute to a brave woman and the singer with a big heart.
