Mel Gibson Pumps Up

Mel Gibson has rapidly transformed his body into a mass of big muscle. INSIDE EDITION looks at how he may be doing it.

What happened to Mel Gibson?

Check out those huge biceps. Looking totally buffed, he's wearing a tank top and shorts that really show of his new physique.

What could be behind the startling transformation?

The 57-year-old actor has been working out, and was also spotted leaving the Beverly Hills Rejuvenation Center, which offers a range of treatments including hormone replacement.

The photograph of Gibson leaving the facility was taken on Labor Day. Apparently it was opened just for him.

The center's co-founder, Dan Holtz has spoken of the benefits of the controversial-but-legal, prescription-only Human Growth Hormone.

"After a couple of years of treatment people typically look much younger," said Holtz.

Gibson's representative denies he is taking HGH and says Gibson uses only vitamins and supplements.

INSIDE EDITION told you recently how 73-year-old Dr. Jeffrey Life says he transformed his body to that of a man half his age, partly through the use of HGH and exercise.

Dr. Life told INSIDE EDITION, "I'm 73 and I really feel like I'm in my 30s."

Judging from those guns, Gibson will fit right into his new he-man role in the upcoming movie The Expendables lll with Sylvester Stallone.

Meanwhile, the notoriously hot-tempered Gibson just had another run-in with cops in Malibu, close to the scene of his infamous anti-Semitic rant back in 2006.

This time, Gibson was pulled over at 1 a.m. at a drunk-driving checkpoint on Pacific Coast Highway. Gibson, who had a female friend in the passenger seat was sober. Cops say he was asked for his license and he said he didn't have it on him, so he was pulled over for secondary screening.

That's when he reportedly asked the cop, "Why are you harassing me?'' and said "I have had problems with you deputies in the past."

One report claimed Gibson "exploded with rage."

Gibson was let off with a warning for not having his license on him.
