'Sharknado 2' Chews Up Ratings. Will There Be A Third?

The first Sharknado was a hit. The sequel proved to be a monster hit. Will there be a Sharknado 3? INSIDE EDITION has the scoop.

It was a record-setting night for Sharknado 2.

The sequel to last summer's surprise TV sensation aired Wednesday and it was a big hit—the top rated cable show of the night. Ratings were up, get this, 156 percent from the first Sharknado

The movie, starring Ian Ziering and Tara Reid, was loaded with famous people doing cameos, and everyone played it straight.

Michael Strahan and Kelly Ripa made cameos, and what perfect casting with Robert Hays playing a pilot, saying, "I've flown worse." He was spoofing his role in the comedy Airplane from 34 years ago!

The taxi driver was Judd Hirsch!

Sharknado proved to be a social media phenomenon, yet again. Hashtag #Sharknado2 was the No. 1 trending topic on Twitter with nearly half-a-million tweets.

Victoria's Secret tweeted this photo of two models getting cozy with a shark.



Even the Red Cross tweeted: "What's in YOUR #sharknado2 survival kit?"
