Was Nicki Minaj's "Wardrobe Malfunction" A Setup?

Beyoncé reigned supreme at the MTV Video Music Awards with the singer closing the show with a super-charged 16-minute performance.

So who can upstage Beyoncé? Try her adorable two year old daughter, Blue Ivy, who was sitting on her dad Jay Z's lap.

Blue Ivy came to the stage in the arms of with her dad to present Beyoncé with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for lifetime achievement, putting to rest, at least for now, all the rumors of trouble in the marriage.

Beyoncé said, “I love ya'll so much. Blue, Blue, I love you, my beloved, I love you."

As usual, the show was jammed with big performances and utterly crazy moments, led by the audacious Nicki Minaj.

Nicki Minaj's newly released video is already causing quite the firestorm and now she's bringing the drama to the VMA stage with her racy performance. Many are calling it  "Too-Hot-For-TV."

As predicted, Minaj delivered a raunchy rendition of her new song "Anaconda,” where booty ruled and there was more to come. Just minutes later, Minaj changed out of her emerald green costume and took the stage with her dress opened, baring her toned tummy.

She struggled to hold her outfit together during her performance of "Bang Bang" with Jessie J. and Ariana Grande.

So, what happened? She told reporters, "We ran out of time getting the dressed zipped up." Well, that's her story. Others see it as the most calculated wardrobe malfunction ever. Eyewitnesses say she practiced the stunt during rehearsals!

Tamron Hall said on the Today show, "Everyone else has a stick mic, she has one of those Janet Jackson ear mics. Some people thought it had been planned, I don't think it was."

The Parents Television Council had asked MTV to tone down the show. So, what did they think?

Melissa Henson of the Parents Television Council said, “It certainly wasn't as bad as we were anticipating. It seemed to me that MTV got the warning. They got the message."

As you would expect, a lot of the buzz on the red carpet was all about that terrifying eruption of gunfire at a  pre-VMA party, hosted by rap bad boy Chris Brown. Brown was reportedly the intended target. The bullets missed him but struck music mogul Suge Knight and sent him to the hospital.

In video of the incident, party-goers can be seen racing out the exit door with their hands up.

A statement from his rep said, "This incident did not involve Chris. He has and will continue to cooperate with the investigation."

Brown later tweeted, "It's disappointing that we as a society can't have fun or enjoy ourselves without any altercations sometimes."

Skin and sparkle ruled the red carpet at the VMA’s. Jennifer Lopez showed lots of both in a thigh high cut-out dress. She even took time to high five the crowd.

Taylor Swift showed lots of leg on stage and off. Before the show she hit the red carpet in a long sleeve romper.

But the night truly belonged to Beyoncé and little Blue Ivy.
