Stephen Collins' Hollywood Marriage: From Storybook to Nightmare

From a picture perfect Hollywood marriage to a living nightmare, INSIDE EDITION looks at the relationship of 7th Heaven actor Stephen Collins to Faye Grant.

It was a storybook romance for handsome Stephen Collins and his gorgeous wife, Faye Grant.

They met in 1982 on the set of a long-forgotten TV series, Tales of the Golden Monkey. Grant, about to hit stardom as the female lead in the original production of V, was instantly smitten. She said, "I thought, either he's gay or a complete jerk, because he can't be as fabulous as he looks and be available!" (Source: People magazine)

Grant gave up her acting career to become a stay-at-home mom, and raise their daughter, Kate. Collins went on to become a huge star playing the father of seven children on the WB hit 7th Heaven.

Patrick Gomez, staff writer at People magazine told INSIDE EDITION, "He woke up one day and felt that he needed to start going to church again. He did and he got very involved in a church here in Los Angeles."

His reputation as a TV dad was impeccable. Collins even became a Eucharistic Minister at All Saints Episcopal Church in Beverly Hills.

Collins was like a surrogate dad to his young co-stars and he expressed outrage when his TV daughter, a then 17-year-old Jessica Biel, appeared topless on the cover of Gear magazine in 2000.  He called the photo, "child pornography." How ironic he is now accused of child molestation.

In 2012, the Collins’ marriage was over. He filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences." Grant said she was blindsided, "Stephen’s filing for divorce is a surprise."

Still, she noted, “27 years of marriage in Hollywood is the equivalent of 189 dog years."

No one could have predicted just how ugly things would get.
