Robin Williams Honored With World Series Pitch

While baseball was trying to crown a World Series champion, it was the stars at a recent game that stole the show. INSIDE EDITION has the story.

Game Five of the World Series got off to an emotional start with the late Robin Williams' oldest son ceremoniously throwing out the first pitch. The catcher was none other than Robin’s good friend, comedian Billy Crystal.

Zak Williams was on the mound with siblings Zelda and Cody. Their dad, a native of San Francisco, was a huge Giants fan and occasionally pumped up fans before home games.

In honor of his dear friend, Crystal, a die hard New York Yankee fan, helped build crowd enthusiasm.

Before the first pitch there was a big oops moment for country singer Aaron Lewis as he flubbed the national anthem.

During his performance, he sang, “What so proudly we hailed, were so gallantly streaming.” He should have sang, "at the twilight's last gleaming,” but instead he sang, "were so gallantly streaming."

Now, he's asking for the nation's forgiveness. He wrote on his website, “My nerves got the best of me and I am completely torn up about what happened. I hope that the nation, Major League Baseball and the many fans of our national pastime can forgive me.”

People had gotten on Lewis' case because he had criticized Christina Aguilera's performance of the national anthem at the Super Bowl in 2011.

Lewis once said in concert, "I don't understand how people that sing the national anthem could be so [expletive] self absorbed that they would try to change that [expletive] song."

It can happen to the best of them as he just found out.
