Dr. Phil's Wake Up Call for Honey Boo Boo's Mama June
Dr. Phil is slamming Honey Boo's Boo's mom over her alleged relationship with a convicted child-sex offender.
He told INSIDE EDITION’s Diane McInerney, “This woman needs a serious wake up call! I do not think she understands the gravity of some of the decisions that she is making here.”
The woman known as Mama June was photographed recently with an ex-boyfriend, who just got out of state prison after serving 10 years for molesting June’s now 20-year-old daughter, Anna, when she was eight years old.
McInerney asked, “Do you believe Honey Boo Boo is in danger?”
“Well, look, if she is under the care and direction of Mama June, who I believe lacks insight and judgment, then I think this is an at-risk child,” Dr. Phil said.
Dr. Phil confronted Mama June on his show with a photo of her with the sex offender. In her intense interview with him, Mama June tries to downplay the danger, saying, "My kids don't go anywhere without me, 24-hours a day."
Dr. Phil chimed in and told Mama June, “So, I’m going to go see a sexual predator, so, I am going to take all my kids.”
Dr. Phil told McInerney, “Who does that? I mean, come on, who does that?”
McInerney asked, “Is she still dating the sex offender? What is the status of their relationship?”
“She says she has never dated him, is not dating him, is not seeing him and has no plans to see him. Family members say that is a lie,” he replied.
Dr. Phil told Mama June, "You make a mistake and you own it, people are very forgiving. I think your fans are very forgiving."
"We have a lot of supportive fans," said Mama June.
TLC cancelled Here Comes Honey Boo Boo after the revelations surfaced.
Mama June believes the show may return. But Dr. Phil thinks she's kidding herself.
He told McInerney, “I just don't think that's very likely to happen, given everything that has come out and everything that is getting ready to come out.”
