'He Tried To Kiss Me' Kathie Lee Gifford Makes Bill Cosby Allegation

As Bill Cosby’s wife, Camille, makes a statement on the scandal, Kathie Lee Gifford says the comedian once tried to kiss her. INSIDE EDITION has the story.

Kathie Lee Gifford dropped a bombshell. She says that Bill Cosby once tried to kiss her.

On the Today Show Tuesday, she said, "I will admit, towards the very, very, end of the last time I saw him, he did try to kiss me."

Gifford opened for Bill Cosby in the late 70s when she was a young singer.

She made this revelation: "He did try to kiss me. I said, 'No.' I said, 'Bill, we're friends.' He goes, "Ok, goodnight.' I said, 'Goodnight,' and I went into my room and he went into his room."

But in her two years of touring with Cosby, Gifford says that she never saw him act inappropriately with other women.

Gifford also said, "I'm not saying the womens' allegations are not true. I'm just saying I never personally saw it with my own two eyes. He is kind. He is capable of  great kindness. He is capable of great generosity."

Meantime, there's big reaction to Cosby's wife speaking out for the first time in an open letter to the nation.

Camille Cosby said, "The man I met, and fell in love with, and whom I continue to love, is the man you all knew through his work."

Camille compares her husband's situation to the now discredited Rolling Stone article about a supposed gang rape at a UVA frat house.

She wrote, "The story was heart-breaking, but ultimately appears to be untrue. None of us will ever want to be in the position of attacking a victim. But the question should be asked -- who is the victim?"

But many people are wondering whether Camille is in a state of denial.

We spoke with psychiatrist Dr. Gail Saltz.

Dr. Saltz told INSIDE EDITION, "The possibility is that she doesn't even know what has really gone on, and the possibility is that she is lying to herself, and that is denial, and that is a normal defense mechanism."

Now, Cosby's 38-year-old daughter, Evin, is following her mother's lead and defending her dad.

Evin Cosby addressed supermodel Beverly Johnson's allegation that Cosby drugged her.

Johnson had said, "It was like a train was coming and I could actually feel myself very woozy. The room was spinning."

On her Facebook page, Evin wrote: "Drugged- You can remember the whole damn day but you were drugged? Just sayin."

Mr. Cosby's representative has issued a blanket denial of all claims of misconduct.
