Giraffe Hunter Gets Death Threats after Ricky Gervais Tweets Her Picture

Hunter Rebecca Francis is under fire after Ricky Gervais tweeted a picture of her smiling with a giraffe she shot and killed.

A photo of a huntress smiling as she lies next to her latest kill, a majestic giraffe, is sparking a firestorm.

Among those outraged is comedian Ricky Gervais. He retweeted the photo with this message: "What must've happened to you in your life to make you want to kill a beautiful animal & then lie next to it smiling?"

And he's not alone.

"A horrible woman," reads another tweet.

The photo was snapped in Africa. But who is the smiling huntress?

Her name is Rebecca Francis. She's 41 years old and from Utah. She is also one of America’s most prominent hunters. She won the reality show Extreme Huntress back in 2010.

Her YouTube page is loaded with pictures and videos killing wild animals including lions and bears.

Believe it or not, 41-year-old Francis has nine grandchildren.

Francis said she did have an issue killing the giraffe: "He was past his breeding years and very close to death.  He was inevitably going to die soon."

The photo was actually taken five years ago but only went viral this week after Ricky Gervais found it online.

The hunter says every bit of the giraffe was used by the local people for food and other things they needed.
