It happened on the Australian TV show, Sunrise.

The host said, “Maria has taken after her half-Jamaican mum with dark skin and brown eyes and curly dark hair, but Lucy got her dad's fair skin, good on her, along with straight red hair and blue eyes.”

Even her co-anchor seemed taken aback.

A spokesperson for the network said in a statement, "Sam was taking a dig at herself. She frequently jokes about the fair skin that runs in her family and how difficult it can be to manage in extreme environments."

TV personality Samantha Armytage is now apologizing, saying she was just making a joke about her own fair skin.

Said said, "I would be mortified if anyone thought I would say or think anything racist. To anyone who I might have offended, I’m sorry."

In a joint posting on Facebook, the twins said, “We believe she did not mean this as a racial comment and we have taken no personal offence to it. “

INSIDE EDITION viewers can't get enough about our story.

“Gotta love genetics! Beautiful girls!" wrote Maria, one viewer.

"I love this story, incredible," wrote Terri, another viewer.

Some of you were not thrilled that we called the teens "black and white."

"They are both bi racial!" wrote Danica, another viewer.

Here's what Lucy and Maria have to say.

Maria said, “It doesn't bother us. I could understand why they call us black and white just to describe the differences between us.”
