Social media is filled with messages to Army Captain Steve Voglezon like this: "Well done Captain America!"

Here's what happened: an unconscious couple was trapped inside their burning car after a head-on crash with another vehicle outside Raleigh, North Carolina.

Captain Voglezon, stationed in nearby Fort Bragg, was driving by with his girlfriend and pulled over to help.

He grabbed a fire extinguisher to smash open a window of the locked car.

Smoke and flames filled the air and an explosion was possible at any second.

Disregarding his personal safety, "Captain America" single-handedly dragged, first, the driver to safety. Then, he headed back to the flaming car to help police and firefighters save the driver's wife.

Sixty-seven-year-old William Thompson and his 63-year-old wife, Kathleen, are now listed in serious but stable condition.

The real-life Captain America was humble about his heroism, as he told INSIDE EDITION's Les Trent, "There were so many other people there as well and I can't take credit for this for everyone coming together."

The smash-hit movie Avengers: Age of Ultron shows Captain America saving the world.

But, this captain is definitely the real deal.
