Sean "Diddy" Combs was arrested Monday on three counts of assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly trying to hit a UCLA assistant football coach with a piece of heavy weight-lifting equipment.

The 45-year-old rapper was spotted exiting a police car in handcuffs.

Combs reportedly cornered the alleged victim, Sal Alosi, after he was particularly tough on the star's 21- year-old son, Justin, a defensive back on the team. Combs then allegedly swung at the coach with a kettlebell. No one was seriously injured.

Alosi made headlines in 2010 when, while working for the Jets, he tripped a Miami Dolphins player.

Combs. who's known as a helicopter parent, posted a video to YouTube three years ago, showing him as a proud dad at his son's first college game.

UCLA's head football coach responded to Monday's incident: "I'm thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation. This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved."
