New York City Prepares For Security Concerns During July 4 Weekend
New York City Police Commissioner Bill Bratton says authorities are prepared for the 4th of July holiday weekend.
At a press conference, he said: "We are always worried but it is not so much what we know but what we don't know."
Security at the Macy’s fireworks show on Saturday night is expected to be intense. Cops in Lower Manhattan will remove all trash cans, weld manhole covers into place and place snipers in strategic locations.
Following the recent incident where a man climbed part of the Brooklyn Bridge to take a seflie, security expert Manny Gomez told INSIDE EDITION: "If someone was successful in breaching security on the Brooklyn Bridge, yet again, after a year, it leads us to believe what kind of security is happening there and in our other iconic New York City places."
Law enforcement around the country is bracing for the Fourth of July amid concern that Independence Day is a prime target for terrorism.
Fears have only been heightened following Friday's attacks on three continents.
Security expert Paul Viollis told INSIDE EDITION that heightened security as Independence Day approaches will likely mean delays for many of us.
“If they are going to be coming to events on the Fourth of July, there will be bag searches, there may be canine units. And we have to understand, security doesn't necessarily come with convenience,” he said.
