Valerie Harper Blames Collapse on Medication Mishap: 'I Am Not in a Coma'
Valerie Harper, who was rushed to the hospital when she collapsed at a playhouse in Maine, is denying she was ever in a coma.
"As always, thank you for your amazing support," the beloved actress posted on her Facebook page. "I am happy to report I am not, nor have I been in a coma."
The 75-year-old, who has battled cancer, was starring in the musical, Nice Work If You Can Get It, at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine when she collapsed backstage on July 29.
She blames her collapse on a complication with medication.
She continued in the Facebook post: "As anyone who has taken strong medication knows, it doesn’t always agree with you, even with me as this experience proves.
"I am confronting these hurdles with my usual enthusiasm and love of life."
She added that the experience wasn't all bad, thanks to "two handsome young men."
"But I must confess that the highlight of this ordeal came when I was escorted by two handsome young men and a pilot, in a medivac helicopter, as the full moon lit the sky," she wrote. "Talk about movie magic!!!"
Incredibly, she said her cancer has not spread since last year and doctors have been happy with her scans.
