Rand Paul Campaign Ad Shows Donald Trump Praising Democrats in Old Interviews
Rand Paul has released his first campaign attack ad taking aim at Donald Trump - by showing old interviews in which the GOP frontrunner praises Democrats.
In one clip from 1999, Trump says: "I really believe the Republicans are just too crazy right."
In another, he said: "Hillary Clinton is a terrific woman."
The ad launched on Wednesday in New Hampshire and Iowa, where it will be played throughout the weekend.
The Kentucky Senator also imitated Trump on the campaign trail, saying: “I gotta be smart! I'm rich! I gotta be smart! I'm rich, right?”
Trump was quick to respond telling The Washington Post the attack ad reflects positions he no longer holds.
"I feel sorry for the great people of Kentucky who are being used as a back up to Senator Paul’s hopeless attempt to become president of the United States. Senator Paul has no chance of winning the nomination,” he said.
John McCain also launched an extraordinary attack on Trump - explaining why he didn't respond when Trump appeared to diminish his heroism as a P.O.W. in Vietnam.
McCain said at an event on Wednesday night: “I don't like to respond to Mr. Trump because there's an old like about you don't want to get into a wrestling match with a pig because you both get dirty and the pig likes it."
Trump released a video on Instagram that is causing a stir titled "Not Under My Watch:"
Meanwhile, Trump, who said earlier this week that he is considering naming a woman as his running mate, appears unstoppable in the polls.
A new CNN poll says 22 percent of Republicans in Iowa support the billionaire with Ben Carson in second place with 14 percent. Everyone else is in single digits.
