This Drug Ring Stashed Cocaine in Toy Characters From Frozen, The Minions

A drug ring between New York City and Puerto Rico was busted and investigators found the interesting places the ring stashed their drugs.

Investigators busted a drug ring that was using birthday presents and toys to smuggle cocaine into New York.

The toys featured famous movie characters like Olaf from Frozen and the adorable Minions.

New York City narcotics agents found the packages inside items smuggled through U.S. mail.

The alleged ringleader, Alberto Fortosa, 24, arranged for the shipment of packages from Puerto Rico to New York.

Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan said in a statement: "Kilos of cocaine were disguised as children’s birthday gifts, and shipped alongside innocent looking Olaf dolls and other toys, in a failed attempt to conceal the sinister contents."

In the weeks leading up to Fortosa’s bust, U.S. Postal Service inspectors said they intercepted five packages en route from Puerto Rico, containing five kilograms of cocaine valued at $225,000.

Four other men were arrested in connection with Fortosa.

The investigation was part of a year-long wiretape that the NYPD and New York City Special Narcotics Prosecutor had on the ring.

Fortosa pleaded not guilty in Manhattan Supreme Court last week, and his bail was set at $250,000.
