Aww! Jimmy Carter, 90, and His Wife Rosalynn Share a Smooch on Kiss Cam
A sweet moment was caught on the Kiss Cam between former president Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn in Atlanta on Thursday night.
Carter, 90, was back at the ballpark to watch The Atlanta Braves at Turner Field. Carter and the former first lady, who have been married for 69 years, sat in their usual seats.
When the camera focused on the tender moment, they got a huge ovation from the crowd, and the adorable couple, who has season tickets, smiled.
Carter announced last month that he was diagnosed with cancer that has spread to his brain, and is currently undergoing cancer treatments.
"It is in the hands of the god who I worship," he said as he addressed reporters at the Carter Center in Atlanta.
He explained that he has four "very small" spots of melanoma on his brain. After he was diagnosed he "thought I had just a few weeks left," he said.
But he added that the cancer in his liver - where the disease was originally found - is thought to be gone.
Carter, who turns 91 in October, plans to reduce his schedule "fairly dramatically" as he undergoes treatment in Atlanta but said that he is "at ease" with the diagnosis.
"I've had a wonderful life," Carter said during the press conference. "I've had thousands of friends."
