Jay Leno Rips into Jimmy Kimmel: 'He's Got a Mean Streak'

The late-night legend says some of Kimmel's pranks involving kids are mean.

Late-night legend Jay Leno is blasting Jimmy Kimmel by saying he's not a nice guy.

"I think he's talented, I think he's funny, but he's got a mean streak and I think that's the reason he's in third place and I think that people sense that," Leno told the New York Daily News.

Leno pointed to Kimmel’s Halloween prank where parents pretend to eat their kids candy.

Appearing on the Today show, Leno said he was fed up with being mocked by Kimmel, who even once dressed up like him.

Leno told Al Roker: "He comes from radio where you find an enemy and make up a phony battle. I never had any problems with the guy but he chose to go after me - that's fine.”

On The View, Joy Behar tried to ask Leno about the feud but Leno didn’t want to talk about it.

She asked the former Tonight Show host: “There's another one you don't like, I heard. Another one you're having a fight with.”

Leno then replied: “I am not having a fight with anybody.”

Leno also took aim at his other former late night rival - David Letterman.

Both former TV titans declined to appear on each other's final show. Letterman finished his run this past June and Leno ended last year.

In an interview with Adweek, Leno said: “I asked Dave to do a 10-second tape for us [when I left]... They said no, they didn't want to do it. Well, why am I going to run all the way to New York? I mean, quid pro quo. I just said, 'No, that's kind of silly.'"

But Leno does have high praise for Jimmy Fallon who replaced him on the Tonight Show.

"Jimmy is closer to Johnny [Carson], I think, than anybody. I think Jimmy has really done a terrific job," Leno told the Today show.

Leno even made a surprise return on Tuesday night.
