Bride Becomes 11th in Her Family to Wear Victorian Wedding Gown

Abby Kingston married in the gown first worn by her great-great grandmother in 1895.

Here comes the bride, all dressed in a very old dress.

Abby Kingston became the 11th member of her family to walk down the aisle in the Victorian gown and INSIDE EDITION was there to see it.

The hand-sewn, floor-length heirloom was first worn by Abby’s great-great grandmother Mary Lowry Warren in 1895 and was a sign of the then-times with billowing mutton sleeves, heavy lace and a tiny, cinched waist only made possible by a corset.

Over the years, it has been added to, and cut down and has gone from having a high collar to having an off-the-shoulder neckline.

Abby and her mother worked with a tailor to restore portions of the dress that had rotted away and added new sleeves because the originals were little more than tattered rags.

It took 200 hours to redesign the frock.
