Paris Attorney Becomes First Identified Victim of Terror Attacks
A Paris attorney has become the first named victim of Friday's bloodbath in the French capital.
Valentin Ribet was a 2014 graduate of the London School of Economics' International Business Law.
Friends first expressed concern for his safety on Twitter because Ribet was among the attendees of a rock concert at the popular Bataclan theater Friday evening.
The Guardian reports that Ribet was among the 87 concertgoers killed in a hail of bullets at the Bataclan. Also among the victims are feared to be nationals of the UK, Sweden, Belgium and Romania.
Ribet's LinkedIn profile lists him as Associate in Criminal Law & White Collar Crime at the international law firm of Hogan Lovells.
Calls placed to Hogan Lovells were not immediately returned Saturday morning.
The London School of Economics responded to the tragedy in a Twitter post early Saturday.
"We have learned of some very sad news from our LSE alumni community, following the attacks in Paris. Valentin Ribet, a graduate of the LLM in International Business Law (2014) who had been working in Paris has passed away. Our hears are filled with sadness at this news," the post read.
