Officer Andrew Ricks, a fan of Rhode Island death metal outfit Vital Remains, took the stage as the band played in Sanford, Florida. He joined them as they sang “Let the Killing Begin” while he was in uniform.

His performance at the concert, which took place in October, was filmed and posted to YouTube.

Once the footage surfaced and Ricks’ superiors found out, he was fired, according to The Orlando Sentinal.

Ricks was an officer in Sanford, where Trayvon Martin was killed in 2012.

Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith said in a statement: “An incident of this nature erodes the thin fibers of trust which already exist between the community and the police and it will not tolerated within the Sanford Police Department.
