Rudy Giuliani: People Did Celebrate After 9/11 But Trump is Exaggerating the Numbers
Giuliani told CNN on Tuesday morning: “We did have some celebrating. It is true. We did have some pockets of celebrating. Some in Queens, some in Brooklyn.”
When asked how many people celebrated, he said: “10, 12, 30, 40.”
But he said there was no way that number reached thousands, as Trump has suggested, and said the billionaire is “exaggerating.”
“I didn’t see any reports of thousands nor did I see any evidence of thousands of people,” Giuliani said.
“I don’t want to say he is not telling the truth about it because let him deal with it. Let him explain it to people. Let him show the evidence," he said. "If thousands of people were celebrating and he saw it on television, there must be some tape of it somewhere. If it shows up it will corroborate him. If it doesn’t, it will make him look really bad.”
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie continued to go after Trump over the controversy.
“It didn’t happen and the fact is, people can say anything, but the facts are the facts, and that didn’t happen in New Jersey that day and hasn’t happened since,” Christie told reporters at a campaign stop in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on Monday.
