Playing Miss Colombia Thanks Supporters After Miss Universe Blunder: 'Your Destiny Is Written For You'

Miss Colombia has shown incredible poise while speaking out about the mix-up over the Miss Universe crown.

Ariadna Gutierrez was accidentally named as the winner of the pageant by host Steve Harvey - before he corrected his mistake and awarded the crown to Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

After the storm comes the calm. I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength. Every one of you has become an incredible human being in my book and I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but from the whole entire world. Your destiny is written for you. And my destiny was this. I was able to bring happiness to my country after becoming Miss Universe for only a couple of minutes... Today because of that COLOMBIA and the LATIN COMMUNITY are being talked about in every corner of the world. I also want to congratulate the Philippines for their new Miss Universe 🙏🏼. The happiness that you must be feeling must be incredible. Life continues and in the future we will find out why things happen the way they happen. Thank you all for your LOVE SUPPORT and KINDNESS. ❤️

"I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength," she wrote in a lengthy Instagram post on Tuesday.

She continued: "Your destiny is written for you. And my destiny was this. I was able to bring happiness to my country after becoming Miss Universe for only a couple of minutes."

After the pageant, she reportedly flew to Florida for a vacation with her family.

Earlier, Miss Colombia posted pictures of her brief reign, writing: "These moments will always be with me."

Meanwhile, it looks like Steve Harvey will be back to host the pageant next year, despite the blunder.

Harvey reportedly signed a multi-year hosting deal just before the pageant.

Believe it or not, a wrong winner mistake has happened on live TV before.

It happened on the finale of the show Next Top Model in Australia back in 2010. The host says she was given the wrong name when she announced the incorrect winner.

Just like in the Miss Universe mishap, the "runner-up" was actually the real winner.

INSIDE EDITION spoke to the loser-turned-winner, Amanda Ware, to get her reaction to the Miss Universe goof.

“At first I laughed but then I felt bad for Miss Colombia that they took the crown off her,” she said.
