'One, Two, Three, Push!' Watch State Troopers Help Deliver Baby on NJ Highway

Two New Jersey state troopers sprung into action on the side of a highway after responding to a 911 call of a woman in labor on Monday.

A couple called 911 when they realized they wouldn’t make it to the hospital in time for the delivery.

Once the troopers, Arnaldo Mateo and Alex Muro, arrived to where the couple was parked on the side of the Garden State Parkway in Hillside Township, they began giving the woman instructions, according to CBS New York.

“One, two, three, push!” one of the troopers is heard saying in the dashcam video.

The husband was in the driver’s seat, while his pregnant wife was in labor in the back seat.

“We gave her specific instructions to push, and at that point, we observed the baby’s head,” Trooper Mateo said at a press conference.

“So I cleared the airway, I turned the baby’s head to the side,  and knew that she had to continue pushing… We gave her instructions, and the baby came out,” he said.

The troopers cut the umbilical cord before handing the baby girl to her mom. Both the baby and her mother are doing fine.
