Winter Storm Jonas is expected to wreak havoc in some parts, with blizzard conditions possible over parts of the Washington D.C., Baltimore and New York City metro areas.

Lauren Fix, also known as “The Car Coach,” shared tips with INSIDE EDITION on how to get through the first major blizzard of the year.

She said to take a piece of cloth with rubbing alcohol and put some on your wipers, as the alcohol will cause the wipers to not freeze. Another option to protect wipers from the elements is to put a sock on them and stick the blades straight up in the air.

Fix also said to mix two parts rubbing alcohol with one part water in a spray bottle and spray a car's windshield to prevent ice from sticking to the glass.

She also says to put a zip lock bag over your mirrors to help prevent freezing and to use a common sanitizing product to thaw the car's lock.

"Use the alcohol that is in hand sanitizer," she said, noting that the alcohol will help remove the ice.

Another solution is to carefully heat up the car key.
