Cops: Forklift Driver Who Won Nearly Half a Million Dollars Shot to Death in Home Invasion Attack

Forklift driver who won Georgia lottery is shot to death in home invasion robbery, authorities say.

A lottery winner in rural Georgia was shot to death during a home invasion robbery early Thursday, authorities said.

Craigory Burch Jr., a forklift driver who donated some of his lottery money to the needy, died from gunshot wounds at a home in Fitzgerald, WALB-TV reported.

"I knew that I would come into money," he said after winning. "I couldn't believe it at first. I was stunned," he said. "I'm still overwhelmed."

He had won $434,272 in a Fantasy 5 jackpot in November.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation spent hours collecting evidence at the house. They declined comment on the killing.

"It would be inappropriate for me to comment on the investigation because the Ben Hill County Sheriff's deputies are running it," spokesman Scott Sutton told INSIDE EDITION.

The sheriff's office also declined comment when contacted by IE.
