An Ohio couple was arrested after their young son was found stuck in a toilet while left home alone, officials said.
Neighbors reportedly heard the two-year-old boy crying for help for more than 30 minutes on Thursday. They reportedly banged on the door and called the police after no one answered.
Officers who responded to the Canton apartment found the child trapped in the toilet, which he had used before falling in and getting stuck, according to Inde Online.
Investigators said they also discovered three marijuana plants, which were found growing in a cupboard in another room, the news site reported.
Nearly two hours after the child was freed, his mother, identified in court documents as Justice Chance, reportedly returned home with Walmart shopping bags.
She reportedly told police that her sister was supposed to be watching the child while she went out shopping, but she could not give police her own sister's last name.
The boy’s father, Rashaad Cuffee, was also arrested.
The pair, both 20, was charged with child endangerment, illegal cultivation of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court documents.
They bonded out of jail and are set to return to court for a preliminary hearing on January 27. They have not yet issued a plea to the charges against them.
Chance’s attorney had no comment when reached by INSIDE EDITION.
Cuffee’s attorney did not return IE’s call for comment.
Stark County Department of Job & Family Services has reportedly been awarded temporary custody of the little boy.
