With mere hours left before Iowa caucus-goers line up to potentially set in motion Donald Trump's march to primary victory, a photo began to circulate of the celebrity's symbol of stardom on the Hollywood Walk of Fame defaced with a symbol of hate.
A swastika appears to have been spray painted onto the star at 6801 Hollywood Boulevard sometime last week and a photo of the graffiti was uploaded to Reddit on Friday.
Reddit users quickly pointed out that the symbol was actually pointed in the opposite direction as the one used by the Nazis.
However, this would not be the first time parallels between the Republican presidential frontrunner and the regime of Hitler have been pointed out.
A street performer who dresses as Batman on the touristy thoroughfare told The Wrap that he routinely sees passersby make nasty gestures at Trump's star, such as pretending to defecate on it.
“I’ve never seen this kind of hate put on a star before, not even Bill Cosby," the actor, Austin Franklin, said.
By Saturday, the star had reportedly been scrubbed clean.
Just last week, the 86-year-old stepsister of famed Jewish diarist Anne Frank--whose family was forced into hiding by the Nazis--wrote in Newsweek that Trump is "acting like another Hitler by inciting racism."
In December, the Telegraph ran an article titled "Who Said It: Donald Trump or Adolf Hitler?" about Trump's seemingly racist views on Mexicans and Arabs.
As early as July, Newsweek asked: "Is Donald Trump a Fascist?"
No matter the answer to these questions, Trump appears to be in the race for the long haul. And he appears poised to take the grand prize.
According to the final Des Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics poll--announced mere hours before the Iowa caucuses begin--Trump support of 28 percent of likely caucus-goers, compared to 23 percent for Ted Cruz.
