Man Dressed in Full Clown Costume Charged with DUI

He gave no explanation for the clown costume.

An Alabama man dressed like a circus clown was arrested for driving under the influence after police said they spotted him driving erratically, officials said.

Joel Allan Sloan, 51, was stopped after another motorist flagged down law enforcement officials about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.

That motorist alerted them that an SUV was allegedly swerving into oncoming traffic on Old Springville Road in Jefferson County.

When a deputy with the sheriff’s office pulled over the SUV after they saw it cross into the oncoming lane and back, he came face-to-face with a man dressed in a full clown costume.

“He told the deputy that he had just had a few drinks at a local restaurant. He gave no explanation for the clown costume,” Chief Deputy Randy Christian said in a news release.
