A Chicago meteorologist covering dangerous wind conditions whipping the city sprang into action to help an elderly woman face off against the blustery weather.
NBC Chicago’s Byron Miranda was reporting on Michigan Avenue when he spotted a woman clinging on to the side of a building after nearly getting knocked over by gusts that reached upwards of 72 miles per hour on Friday.
Two other Good Samaritans helped the woman to the taxi as the driver rushed to keep the door open.
One man who helped the woman nearly lost his hat after it was swept off his head, but Miranda said another do-gooder ran to catch it before it was lost forever.
Viewers took to social media to commend the group for their actions.
“Thank you! Thank you for helping restore just a bit of faith in humanity. Well done!” one person wrote on Facebook.
Another wrote: “Right on Byron! That wind was no joke.”
