After Cops Chase Suspect Into Supermarket, Quick-Thinking Shopper Stops Him With Cart

"The Portland Police Bureau would like to thank anonymous shopping cart guy," cops posted on Facebook.

Talk about an everyday hero!

Security cameras captured an epic chase between a man suspected of jaywalking and police officers that finally ended with a shopper pushing his cart in the suspect's path.

Cops in Portland, Oregon said 26-year-old Cody Jaye Lindsay was arrested for breaking parole while dangerously crossing a busy street. Before officers were able to take him into custody, the suspect took off, running into a Fred Meyer store with officers closely behind.

As the video shows, the chase swiftly ends after a quick-thinking shopper pushes his grocery cart into the suspect's path.

In the next scene, the suspect is seen on the floor, after having tripped over the cart and falling to the ground.

"We wanted to thank [the shopper] for sacrificing his groceries to stop a fleeing suspect," the Portland Police Bureau wrote on their Facebook page.

Cops assured viewers that no one was hurt during the chase, including the anonymous shopper, who retrieved his cart, picked up his groceries, and continued shopping after the suspect's arrest.

According to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office, the suspect has plead not guilty and is due back in court next month.
