Cops: Video Shows Would-Be Thieves Putting Credit Card Skimmer on Machine Right Under Worker's Nose

As video shows, a man distracts the employee while another man behind him puts the skimmer on top of the device, all within seconds.

Startling surveillance footage shows a man placing a card skimmer on a credit card machine inside a Florida gas station - right under the worker's nose.

Cops say the video shows one man distracting the employee at the Miami Beach Chevron on March 10 while another man behind him puts the skimmer on top of the device.

"They speak with the cashier, they have some sort of exchange, it appears as though one actually sends her to the other end of the register, I would imagine, to purchase something," Miami Beach Officer Ernesto Rodriguez told WSVN.

It took the suspect just seconds to get the skimmer in place.

Cops say it was left on the credit card machine to take credit card information from shoppers. The unidentified men then left the store.

But the following day, a worker called 911 when he noticed the skimmer, which had become loose. Authorities said they do not believe any credit card details were stolen.

"This type of reader... we actually believe it's the type of reader that the criminal would have to come back for to actually get the information that would have been read," said Officer Rodriguez.

He added: "We always encourage the public, if you did use that credit card machine in that short time frame, always monitor your credit cards and let us know if there is any fraudulent activity."

Officer Rodriguez said authorities are now searching for their two suspects, and need the publics help identifying them.
