Cops: Woman Arrested For Shoplifting Over $800 Worth of Flip-Flops

The woman allegedly stole the flip-flops from Old Navy before jumping in a car driven by her friend.

Two Nashville women were arrested after $800 worth of flip-flops were stolen from Old Navy.

According to the Mt. Juliet Police Department, officers were called to the scene late Wednesday afternoon for a shoplifting in progress.

Tawonda Parrish, 26, allegedly stole the Old Navy merchandise before fleeing the store in a Nissan Altima, which was allegedly driven by her friend Tena Allen, 28.

Witnesses provided a description of the car and officers were able to apprehend the suspects near a Dick's Sporting Goods store.

The merchandise was returned to the store, and the two women were arrested and booked into Wilson County Jail.

While it is unclear how many pairs were stolen, flip-flops listed on the Old Navy website range between $3.94 and $12.94.

Tena Allen was charged with violation of probation and driving on a revoked license, and is currently being held on $8,000 bond. Tawonda Parrish was charged with felony theft of merchandise, and released on $1,500 bond. She will appear in court on May 12.

The Mt. Juliet Police Department also reported on Twitter that shoplifting was the most common criminal offense 2015 in their district, with 244 cases reported.
