Kate Middleton Emerging as International Style Icon
The chic wrap dress worn by Kate Middleton after her engagement to Prince William was announced is flying off racks around the world.
The dress was designed by Middleton's favorite brand, Issa, a UK-based fashion label known for their elegant wrap dresses. INSIDE EDITION found the exact same design at New York City showroom Beyond 7 in a different color.
The dress costs $635 and is made of silk jersey. It falls to a demure length right above the knee. The deep V of the neckline adds flair while remaining ladylike. There's no doubt that an international style icon is emerging.
"Kate is known for her no-nonsense tailored modern style. It will be all about clean lines and elegant tailoring," says style expert Katrina Szish.
Middleton's selection of navy blue was the perfect complement to her engagement ring, the 18-carat sapphire and diamond stunner that belonged to Princess Diana.
Diana picked the ring herself from a catalogue of the royal family's official jeweler.
On New York's Madison Avenue, Greg Kwiat, the CEO of famed jeweler Fred Leighton showed INSIDE EDITION's Diane McInerney a similar ring.
"Is Kate's ring sparking a frenzy for sapphire rings?" asks McInerney.
"Thirty years ago when Princess Diana first received the ring there was an incredible interest in sapphire engagement rings. I expect we'll see that same trend again because Kate is such a style icon," says Kwiat.
After Diana died, Prince Harry requested the ring as a cherished memory of his mother. William got Diana's favorite watch.
"Harry decided to give the ring to William to present to his new princess Kate Middleton as her engagement ring," explains royal expert Elaine Lipworth.
The iconic ring now has a new future on the hand of the future princess, who's captivating the world.
